IMG_1830CWS South Florida welcomes, feeds, and clothes newcomers; reunites and strengthens families, and enables resettled immigrants to become self-sufficient and integrated members of US society.

CWS first opened an office in Miami, Florida in 1960 in response to the immediate needs of refugees fleeing Cuba during the aftermath of the revolution. Since then, CWS South Florida has grown and expanded its programs into Broward and Palm Beach County, providing continued resettlement and legal support to subsequent waves of refugees from Cuba, Colombia, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Burma, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, as well as Cubans and Haitians Entrants and other immigrant groups.

Refugee AmeriCorps Initiative

AmeriCorps members serve here! An Intensive Community Orientation AmeriCorps member serves at this site as part of the Refugee AmeriCorps Initiative, a nationwide AmeriCorps program managed by CWS and funded through a joint-private partnership between the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).
